Please be advised that installing this kit takes some experience and knowledge. It is possible that if you get in the middle of this installation and you can't get something back together or something breaks, that you could find yourself without water and making an emergency call to a plumber. To completely install this unit, the water must be shut off to your house so the guts can be pulled out of your old valve and the new components installed in it. To take the valve apart to install the new components, there is a thin threaded collar that must be removed. During my installation the threaded collar was stubborn as the existing plumbing was 28 years old and came half way off and wouldn't come any more. Had I been unable to finish loosening that collar, I would have had to make an emergency call to a plummer. How hard your old screws, collar, etc.When I put mine back together I used a good thread lubricant so if it ever has to come back apart, it wont be a problem. If you have a fair amount of experience, and know how to work around any issued with old screws that won't cooperate this installation shouldn't be an issue. I wish that I had taken some pictures during the installation to post. The only picture I could post was the final installation.This kit fit the bill perfectly. The first video - by an uploader with the name of ramonasplumber - gave a very good, in-depth tutorial. Excellent assistance. The biggest challenge of installing this kit is being very careful in removing the old dome screw cap from behind the handle. If you try to turn it by brute force you WILL damage the underlying valve beyond repair necessitating a complete valve replacement. I simply used large channel locks and a rubber mallet. Once I had a good hold on the cap I hit the channel locks with increasing force until it gave way (much like an impact wrench does to stubborn bolts).

I had my dremel tool ready to cut it off but the soaking made it pop right off. The water was reversed with hot on right and cold on left. I then took the kits ball and simply put the large hole facing up and it totally cured the problem. Upon inspection the reversing ball and the kits ball were identical so Delta must have corrected the issue and never told anyone. Why they said large hole down is beyond me. There is a problem with the conversion kit. You have to let the water get totally hot then slowly move the handle towards the cold until you like it. Don't go cold to hot because it can go full on hot in an instant. When in the shower do not bump the handle. The updated look of the lever arm VS the crystal ball is worth the effort, it make a huge visual difference. Your 600 may be different so you may have to experiment a bit. Good Luck !Overall it definitely beats having to open up a wall. I found one caveat however. The water flow is noticeably reduced at the tub spout after installing this. The new ball valve must be enviro friendly in that it is designed to save water. Similar to how new kitchen and bathroom sink faucets have lower flow as well. (1.5gpm vs the outgoing 2.2gpm). With years of mineral build up on each of the 2 Delta faucets I rebuilt with this kit this method worked great with some patience. Once you get the cap off it's quite simple to do the remaining job. Another very helpful tip (which I learned from the YouTube video) was to use silicone plumber's grease (ensure silicone as it won't swell rubber o-rings) on all moving parts. After the completion of the job it made the handle movement very smooth and pleasant. Note: While installing one of these kits on a faucet I was sure I screwed something up. After greasing the steel ball with silicone the weight of the handle kept closing the valve on it's own (drifting downward from upward). I envisioned being in the shower and it turning off by itself. Once I tured the water back on to the house the pressure fixed it right away and kept it in place. No problem - whew! I've ready several complaints about the valve being opposite in turning on the hot and cold water. I'm not sure what they are talking about as the bottom of the long part of the handle points towards the appropriate temperature selection. Left for hot and right for cold. In the instructions for the kit there is a specific mention of ensuring the steel ball is installed a certain way to insure proper operation, so be sure to double-check when installing yours. The only real performance difference I noticed is a slightly reduced water pressure for each faucet out of the shower head. It wasn't enough to bother me, but I did notice it. This may have to do with increasing water usage reduction regulations, but I'm not sure as it didn't reduce it enough to make me research it. The ones that are left, except for one, look at me like I am trying to achieve the impossible. If you ask them to install a mixing valve most of the time the answer is a blank stare. My experience allows me to do my own repairs or mods with out having to explain what I want and I will achieve my final goal of reducing the stress on my well and septic.

The remaining item on the mod list is the Cash Acme shower mixing valve and the adjustment of the Delta shower valves for the master shower. I will prevail. Delta no longer makes trim kits with a push-button diverter on the mixing valve plate like what you are describing. It could be that Delta has some kind of retrofit solution (which might be what your plumber suggested). Sometimes it’s possible to access and change the shower valve from the back (if there’s a normal wall on the other side). Additionally, you might want to give Delta a call directly just to see if they have any ideas for how you can keep your current valve. My plumer said with this kind of push button diverter I can only go with the same kind (the diverter is in the plate not in the spout) After reading this article I am questioning his recommendation. Some of them will have basic jointer instructions that may directly pertain to your model. Also check that model number carefully. I've not seen letters in their model numbers before. It was only after getting the majority of the wobble out that I noticed that the wheels are not drilled concentrically. The holes for the arbor are off-center which results in the face of the grinding wheel pulsating and the wheel is off balance. That's something that cannot be corrected. It was more than just a little bit of wheel dressing could take care of. About the aforementioned washers - they're the most crudely made stamped pieces of metal washers I've ever seen. They aren't machined, aren't ground flat, aren't even close to being true and square. There's no excuse for that. The tool stands don't attach square to the wheel. There is about a 15 degree angle between the face of the wheel and the edge of the tool stands. You can't get the tool stands that close to the wheel anyway because of the aforementioned non-concentric holes. Oh, and one of the carriage bolts wasn't long enough to get the instructed washer and crush washer on to hold the tool stands. I had to leave them off because the tolerances on this tool are so sloppy that the bolts don't even fit right. The cheap plastic eye shields don't attach firmly at all. No matter how hard I cranked down on the thumb screws, they would still rattle around like a tin can. One of the threads for the spark arrestors was completely stripped and because of this the spark arrestor never was firmly attached.
